- The Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) intends to issue a sole source purchase order in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(2) to Smiths Detection, 2202 Lakeside Boulevard, Edgewood, MD 21040 The proposed contract action is for an equipment maintenance agreement for Ionscan 400B and Ionscan 500DT equipment located at various Bureau of Prisons facilities. Smith's Detection provides factory authorized maintenance technicians and repair parts. The award will be processed under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1). The period of performance will be from date of award through twelve months. This announcement constitutes the only announcement for this requirement. Quotations are not being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government. In doing so, interested sources must submit detailed information that demonstrates their ability to meet the Bureau of Prisons' needs. Responses received within 3 days of this notice of intent shall be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive requirement to competition, solely at the Government's discretion. The Government anticipates award of a firm-fixed price contract using Simplified Acquisitions procedures.
