Description
Registration Form The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) will hold the 2014 DNDO Industry Day December 9th, 2014 in Washington, DC. Purpose: This event will provide interested vendors, universities, national laboratories, and federal collaborators an overview of DNDO's product acquisition priorities and long-term research and development (R&D) focus areas and show how they align to the Department's Global Nuclear Detection Architecture (GNDA) strategy. This year's event will focus on: • Facilitating dialogue among Government, Industry, Academia, and National Labs to promote technology solutions to homeland security challenges. • Encouraging mutually beneficial relationships between Government, Industry, Academia, and National Labs. • Understanding the detector market. • Promoting technology transition from Research and Development to Commercialization. This event will feature a user panel, enabling attendees to participate in a dialogue with end users on the needs and challenges that can only be met through new technologies. Additionally, we will be holding breakout sessions to strategically target smaller, more focused dialogues around some of the more challenging facets of R&D as they relate to DNDO's mission. The topics for the breakout sessions are: • Detection of SNM (Special Nuclear Material), especially if shielded; • Wide Area Search (WAS), including in Urban and Cluttered Environments; and • Low Cost Materials for gamma and/or neutron detectors Event Location: Carnegie Institution for Science 1530 P Street, NW Washington, DC 20005-1910 Getting there via metro: The Red Line/Dupont Circle station is the closet metro (subway) stop. Use the "Dupont Circle South" exit (19th and Connecticut). On reaching the street level, turn to face Dupont Circle, and proceed around the circle to the right (counterclockwise), crossing both Connecticut and Massachusetts Avenues. The third intersection around the circle is P Street. Turn to the right down P Street, where you will immediately cross 18th Street, then continue two more blocks and cross 16th Street. The Carnegie Institution is on P Street between 15th and 16th on the right. Parking: The nearest parking garage is located one block away at 1616 P St NW Washington DC 20005. (Lot #372). If you have any questions, you may contact Colonial Parking directly at 202 295 8200. Hotels & Restaurants: As the venue is near the center of the city and the Dupont Circle area, there are many nearby hotels and many restaurants. REGISTRATION Advance registration is required and open to all interested parties. No walk-ins allowed. Due to space limitations, we will limit participation to two attendees from each organization. As this is an UNCLASSIFIED event, submission of visit requests (security clearances) is not required. However, foreign nationals MUST register a minimum of 30 days prior to the event. The registration form for this meeting is available through the Federal Business Opportunities website. Foreign nationals should request the Foreign National Visitor Form by emailing DNDOIndustryDay@hq.dhs.gov. This form must be submitted in addition to the Industry Day Registration Form. Those who successfully register will be notified by email. To register, please send a completed Registration Form to DNDOIndustryDay@hq.dhs.gov by October 31, 2014. On this form you may: 1. Submit your publicly releasable information, including attendee names, affiliation, contact information, and a brief description (limit 500 characters) of your interests and capabilities in radiological/nuclear detection technologies. Participants may opt out of sharing this information during registration. 2. Select your preferences (first and second choice) for the breakout sessions. 3. Indicate your intention to provide company marketing material or technology brochures. (Each vendor will be allotted two- 8 ½" X 11" areas on a table.) 4.
