- SOLICITATION Number F14PS00945 - The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 3, Bloomington, MN, intends to SOLE SOURCE a firm fixed price purchase order under authority of FAR 6.302-1, Other than Full and Open Competition procedures and FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition procedures to Calhoun Quarry, Incorporated, Batchtown, IL. This requirement is to provide for the furnishing, delivery, and tailgate spread of CA-6 surfacing rock which will be used for road rehabilitation in Calhoun and Gilbert Lake Divisions of Two Rivers National Wildlife Refuge, HC 83, Box 107, Brussels, IL, 62013. Most of Two Rivers National Wildlife Refuge lands are situated on a peninsula between the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers and are accessible primarily by ferries crossing these rivers. Calhoun Quarry is located close to Two Rivers National Wildlife Refuge and has easy access via county roads, a free ferry and a bridge. Other quarries in near proximity to Two Rivers National Wildlife Refuge have often declined to offer a quote due to the delivery access to Two Rivers National Wildlife Refuge. In the past when other quarries have provided quotes for CA-6 surfacing rock to Two Rivers NWR, the cost quotes have been unreasonable due to the access limitations and distances to travel to defined CA-6 rock spreading locations. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 212312, Crushed and Broken Limestone Mining and Quarrying. The Size Standard is 500. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals; however, firms with expressed interest and capability are encouraged to respond. The intent of this notice is to inform the vendor community of the U. S. Fish & Wildlife Services proposed contract action. This notice is for information purposes only. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
