- THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT AND NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATIONS. The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) Research Triangle Park, NC 27709 intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Illumina INC, San Diego, CA 92122, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Award is pending approval of JOFOC. 1) #SY-415-1001- Qty 1 each of the Illumina NextSeq 500 Sequencing System is an integrated system for automated generation of DNA clonal clusters by bridge amplification, sequencing, and primary analysis. System includes embedded touchscreen monitor and on-instruments computer, NextSeq Control Software, installation and training and 12 months warranty (including parts and labor). The Illumina NextSeq 500 DNA Sequencer system allows for the generation of large amounts of DNA/RNA sequencing to be performed within NIEHS. The objective is to aid the Epigenomics Core Lab Group in providing high-throughput technology for identifying the DNA/RNA involved in environmental diseases to DIR researchers. It is designed to fill a completely different niche, enabling much higher throughput and sequencing depth than is readily available on the MiSeq platform. Illumina Inc. is the sole-source provider for the specific product that contains proprietary technology unavailable from other manufacturers. A transformative addition to the industry-leading Illumina next- generation sequencing (NGS) system portfolio, the NextSeq 500 System delivers the power of high-throughput sequencing with the simplicity of a desktop sequencer. Its fast, integrated, sample-to-results workflow enables rapid sequencing of exomes, whole genomes, and transcriptomes in a single run, with the flexibility to switch to lower throughput sequencing as needed. The system fits seamlessly into research laboratories, with no need for specialized equipment. The NextSeq 500 System's intuitive user interface and load-and-go operation enables researchers to perform more sequencing applications at the highest depth and resolution. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability. Respond to this requirement by submitting written capabilities/specifications to the Purchasing Agent at the address stated above. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received within 8 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 8 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with Illumina Inc. The NAICS Code/Size is 334516/500. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items.
