Description
The U. S. Army Contracting Command (ACC) - New Jersey 07806-5000 (Installation: Picatinny Arsenal), in support of the Armament Research, Development, and Engineering Center (ARDEC), is conducting a market survey to understand industry capability to provide a tactical fire control radar capable of tracking small Radar Cross Section (RCS) aerial targets. The radar should be small, lightweight, low cost and be suitable for stationary (Fixed Site) and on-the-move use (configurable to be mounted on a vehicle such as a Stryker or Joint Light Tactical Vehicle). The threshold for this application would be to track targets shortly after the vehicle has stopped and the objective is to track targets while moving. The field of view of the radar should be at a minimum 90 degrees but should be expandable to 360 degrees through hardware or software additions or modification. As a result of issuing this Request for Information (RFI), the Government expects to receive technical data describing the proposed concept and innovative methodology information to assist in programmatic planning. This information will be used to: (1) Determine the ability of current and near term emerging technology; (2) Identify feasible system concept alternatives; (3) Determine the approximate/relative cost information for each proposed concept; and (4) Determine the estimated performance characteristics, goals, and/or projections associated with each proposed concept. The responder must possess the necessary skill, facilities, and expertise to produce a prototype system capable of being demonstrated in both a stationary and on-the-move configuration against a variety of small aerial targets. Potential candidates should have expertise in radar design development. The subject matter may be considered to be a quote mark critical technology quote mark and therefore subject to ITAR restrictions. Subject to approval, competition is limited to U.S. sources. No award is intended as a result of this request for information. The United States Government (USG) will not pay for information received. Responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the USG to form a binding contract. Responders are solely responsible for all expenses associated with responding to this RFI. Interested parties need to contact Alan Paret Email: alan.paret.civ@mail.mil to request and receive further information in order to submit white paper submissions no later than September 5, 2014. White paper submissions must be compatible with Microsoft Word 2007 or Adobe PDF Reader.
