- Description
- The Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (Corporation) plans to issue an Invitation for Bids (IFB) for a contractor to furnish all plant, labor, equipment and materials and perform all work for paving and drainage improvements at Eisenhower Lock Tunnel in Massena, New York. The work shall include asphalt pavement demolition, demolition of a portion of the concrete tunnel structure that underlies the asphalt roadway pavement, installation of a drainage system beneath a new reinforced concrete pavement, and placement of new reinforced concrete pavement. The total surface area for asphalt pavement and concrete demolition and replacement with new reinforced concrete pavement is approximately 9,630 square feet (Area No. 1) and the total surface area for asphalt pavement and concrete demolition and replacement with new insulated drainage system and reinforced concrete pavement is approximately 1960 square feet (Area No. 2). The work in both areas entails 1) maintaining a single lane of traffic at all times during the project, 2) removing existing asphalt pavement and concrete as required to maintain original grades for new construction, and 3) pouring and finishing new reinforced concrete pavement. The additional work in Area No. 2 entails 1) demolishing existing concrete and installing two (2) new transverse drainage trenches, 2) boring through existing concrete from the invert of each of the new drainage trenches to other existing drainage structures and 3) installing a new continuous rigid insulation and drainage mat system. The IFB will be released on or about August 8, 2014 with a response date of approximately September 8, 2014. The cost range is between $250,000 and $500,000. This is a service-disabled veteran-owned small business set-aside. All responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation.
