- The objective of the all employees meeting is to provide a forum for the Commissioners to reflect upon NRC's accomplishments this past year, discuss the challenges ahead, and answer employee questions. The NRC requires the services of a conference center within a reasonable distance from the NRC Headquarters (HQ), located at 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852. Reasonable proximity is required to ensure maximum NRC staff attendance and participation. By holding the meeting within reasonable distance from the NRC Headquarters employees will save significant round-trip commuting time to comparable, further away venues. Additionally, the Agency would incur additional costs associated with transportation (either by metro or shuttle), loss of employee productivity hours, and experience increased time constraints on the schedules of employees and the Commissioners. The North Bethesda Marriot Hotel and Conference Center (Marriott) is the only conference center that is located within walking distance from the NRCHQ that has the capacity to accommodate 1,200 attendees for the meeting. The Marriott is located approximately 0.2 miles from NRC HQ and has extensive familiarity with NRC's security and meeting requirements as demonstrated by performing the annual Regulatory Information Conference in 2013, the NRR All-Hands Meeting, the Integrated regulatory review Service Mission, and several other agency-wide and office-wide meetings. Therefore, the Marriott is the conference facility that can meet NRC requirements is support of the all employees meeting.This is not a request for competitive proposals.
