- The U.S. Department of Commerce, Ocean of Atmospheric Research, intends to award a purchase order to the University of Florida leadership and Education Foundation, Inc. for registration fees (29 attendees) to attend the 2014 Sea Grant Association Meeting to be held in Clearwater, FL. The National Sea Grant College Program is a university-based federal-state partnership, with three leadership groups. NOAA is the Federal partner, and is represented by the National Sea Grant Office. The State universities are represented by the Sea Grant Association, composed of the Directors of the individual Sea Grant programs. Both are advised by the legislatively-mandated, presidentially-appointed Sea Grant Advisory Board, a Federal Advisory committee. These three groups meet bi-annually at Sea Grant Week to coordinate activities, to set program priorities at both the regional and national level, and learn about and discuss issues of importance to the oceans and coasts. The Sea Grant Week event also brings representatives of the rank and file from the Sea Grant Network to learn innovative approaches to a variety of issues, including building effective partnerships, effective communication strategies, responding to coastal hazards, translating research into practice, and dealing with perceptions of advocacy. They will also present the results of key projects to enhance cross-program collaborations. There is no other meeting where members of Sea Grant Network can interact with the Sea Grant Association, the National Sea Grant Advisory Board, and the National Sea Grant Office. The meeting is hosted by the Florida Sea Grant Program, based at the University of Florida. There is no other known vendor that can provide this type of service. The intended procurement is for services for which the Government intends to acquire under the guidelines of FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures and FAR Part 12 Commercial Items. University of Florida Leadership and Education Foundation, Inc. is the only known source able to provide this type of service. The NAICS code for this action is 611710. Interested parties must respond within (5) five days after publication of this notice. If no affirmative responses are received, the Government intends to issue contract to University of Florida Leadership and Education Foundation, Inc. All contractors doing business with the Government must be registered with the System for Award Management (SAM). No award can be made unless the vendor is registered with SAM.
