- The U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center (CERDEC), Command, Power, and Integration Directorate (CP&I) in concert with the Tactical Microgrid Standards Consortium (TMSC) is hosting a Technical Exchange Meeting to discuss deployment configurations and possible architectures for tactical microgrids as well as enabling safety, interconnection, communication and control technologies. Currently, providing operational energy in a tactical environment involves a burdensome logistics tail to supply and maintain tactical generators. Technologies are emerging that can network generators, energy storage, and alternative power sources together to provide needed power while running at or near rated capacity to minimize fuel usage. However, many of these solutions are proprietary or are designed for a certain scenario or unit and therefore are not extensible or scalable to other situations. The TMSC partners believe that the ultimate goal of this effort is to define open standards that enable the interoperability of future power generation and distribution equipment for tactical operations. To facilitate new capabilities such as redundancy, reliability, higher efficiency, and modularity, these standards must focus on future distributed microgrid architectures. This sources sought notice is for planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation for bids/proposals. It is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The Government does not intend to pay for any information provided under this sources sought announcement. Responses will assist the Government in determining potential responsible sources and to determine the technical capability of the domestic production base.
