Description

Synopsis VA528-14-Q-0398: This is a public synopsis of a forthcoming solicitation in accordance with FAR 36.213-2. This is NOT a solicitation, and no solicitation documents are currently publically available. The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a construction contractor to furnish all labor, tools, materials, equipment, supplies and supervision to construct a high bay, fabric covered structure to hold 300 tons of salt at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center Canandaigua, NY in accordance with the drawings and specifications. Work includes, but is not limited to, architectural, structural, mechanical, etc. Project Number is 528A5-14-587. Competition for this procurement is restricted to SERVICE DISABLED VETERAN OWNED SMALL BUSINESS (SDVOSB). Existing Conditions: The Canandaigua VAMC currently stores the salt/sand mixture in an open air pile, west of building 39. Open air piling is contributing to higher equipment maintenance costs due the formation of lumpy salt that is difficult to handle with loaders and to move through spreaders, the loss of salt by runoff and dissolving by precipitation and the possibility of contaminating streams, wells or groundwater with salt runoff. Project Scope: The Scope of Work for this project is to construct a high bay, fabric covered structure to hold 300 tons of salt on the Canandaigua VAMC site. This document provides an overview of the work and other pertinent items affecting the scope of work. The plans, specifications, existing conditions and balance of the Contract Documents must be consulted for the entire project content. Estimated construction cost range is $25,000 - $100,000. The firm must be a General Construction firm approved under NAICS: 236220, size standard: $36.5 million. The Period of Performance for this project will be 90 days. The offeror shall obtain any and all necessary licenses or permits required to perform this work in the State of New York. Prospective contractors must be registered and certified online with http://www.vip.vetbiz.gov and must be registered at http://www.sam.gov in accordance with 38 CFR Part 74 and VAAR 819.70 to be eligible for award. Solicitation will be posted on/about August 4, 2014. A walk-through will be held on or about one week after the posting of the solicitation for this RFQ. These dates are estimates. The actual dates will be stated in the solicitation. The Contract Specialist for this project is Emily Lindsey (Emily.Lindsey2@va.gov).This is a SERVICE-DISABLED VETERAN OWNED BUSINESS SET-ASIDE.
