NOTICE OF INTENT TO NEGOTIATE ON A SOLE SOURCE BASIS NOTICE FOR SOLICITATION NO, HHSNNIHCCOPCNOI14014085,Vitaldyne Products for Clinical Study: Feasibility of Inducing Intra-arterial Thrombosis for Vessel Occlusion via Radiofrequency-Enhanced Embolization National Institutes of Health, Clinical Center Office of Purchasing and Contracts, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Vitaldyne, Inc. 400 Cokato St.E Cokato,MN 55321-4454 pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received prior to the closing date of this synopsis will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. RESPONDENTS MAY SUBMIT THEIR CAPABILITY STATEMENTS VIA E-MAIL TO THE POINT OF CONTACT LISTED IN THIS NOTICE INTENT SYNOPSIS This procurement is for Vitaldyne products for use in Clinical Study:Feasibility of Inducing Intra-arterial Thrombosis for Vessel Occlusion via Radiofrequency-Enhanced Embolization. Radiology & Imaging Sciences intends to procure custom designed scientific equipement and supplies to be used in a Clinical Study. A purchase order for supplies will be processed for the required products. BACKGROUND The Center for Interventional Oncology is a collaboration involving the Clinical Center (CC), NIH's clinical research hospital in Bethesda, Md., the National Cancer Institute (NCI), and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). The Center offers new and expanded opportunities to investigate cancer therapies using minimally or non-invasive techniques and technologies under image-guidance. Ultimately, the goal is a successful localized treatment. The Center for Interventional Oncology operating under the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, requires the procurement of one Visualase® Thermal Therapy System and 15 Visualase® Vclas400 Urokit Laser Applicators with the below mandatory requirements in order to support mission critical research in translational medicine and imaging technologies. PURPOSE/JUSTIFICATION The Visualase® Thermal Therapy System and Visualase® Vclas400 Urokit Laser Applicators utilizes laser-induced interstitial thermal therapy (LITT), a minimally invasive therapy in combination with a powerful image-guided system (MR, MRI) to localize heat to a target and to visualize thermal ablation in real time. LITT is one of the most recent developments in laser technology. The procurement of the Visualase Thermal Therapy System and Laser Applicators will allow in depth research of its potential in localized cancer treatment and pave the way for clinical studies in the field of Interventional Oncology. CONTRACT REQUIREMENTS Provide the Visualase® Thermal Therapy System with the following requirements: 1) PTX-980-15 - 15 Watt Laser 2) K-Pump 3) Visualase® Solution Workstation Software Provide the Visualase® Vclas400 Urokit Laser Applicators with the following requirements: 1) Compatible with the Visualase® Thermal Therapy System 2) Satisfies description of the device per 510K FDA Clearance ref# K053087. GOVERNMENT RESPONSIBILITIES N/A This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures-Commercial Item Acquisition in conjunction with FAR Part 12 Commercial Item Acquisition of Commercial Items.
