- NOTICE OF INTENT to award to a contract to TE SUBCOM, Newington, New Hampshire. This procurement is for SL-17 submarine cable. SL-17 submarine cable is a commercially-available, proprietary product made by TE SUBCOM. No other supplier makes SL-17 cable as SL-17 is a brand name for the proprietary product. The Navy uses SL-17 cable to provide electrical power and transmit data from instruments on the seafloor. Multiple Navy submarine cable systems have been assembled utilizing SL-17 cable. See Note 22.
