Description
It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to negotiate on a sole sources basis with Spacesaver Systems, Inc., 10800 Connecticut Avenue, Kensington, MD 20895 to procure the services to correct the safety hazards of the compact shelving currently installed on the B3 level of the NLM. The contractor, Spacesaver Systems, Inc., shall retrofit Module14 of the existing compact shelving with current controls, fire protection and safety mechanisms to be compatible with adjacent Spacesaver compact shelving units on level B3 of the National Library of Medicine. This area of compact shelving on B3 was installed over 25 years ago and the major safety feature is broken and cannot be repaired. The contractor shall replace the main safety system in the existing set of compact shelves with new ZFS system to ensure safe exit and entry in and out of Module 14 on B3. The contractor will upgrade Spacesaver electronics to ZFS safety system in module 14 only, install Fire Park into Module 14, provide three new 18" wide carriages with new shelving to maintain 30" aisles, furnish all new face panels to match existing panels, and deactivate existing safety floor in Module 14. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP) nor is an RFP available; however, all responsive sources may submit a proposal in a timely manner which will be considered by NLM. Firms interested in responding to this notice must be able to provide the aforementioned modification. Response must be in writing and must be received electronically at the Government infrastructure by Noon on Tuesday, July 22, 2014. Proposals must include pricing information and should reference Synopsis: NLM2014210 and should be submitted to maryann.carroll@nih.gov.
