Description
Response Template for IT Schedule 70 Cloud SIN Request for Information (RFI) Request for Information (RFI) - GSA Proposed Change to Add a Cloud Computing Special Item Number (SIN) on IT Schedule 70 The Office of IT Schedule Programs is considering the creation of a new SIN under the IT Schedule 70 program specifically for cloud computing services. It has been working with the FAS ITS Cloud Computing Services (CCS) Program Management Office (PMO) to develop a proposal to create a single Cloud Computing Services Special Item Number (SIN) to consolidate and simplify the way that cloud computing is offered on the IT Schedule 70 program. The purpose of this change would be to improve the way that GSA offers cloud computing services through IT Schedule 70, increase visibility and access of cloud computing services to customer agencies, and to provide industry partners the opportunity to differentiate their cloud computing services from other IT related products and services. While commercial cloud computing services are currently being sold on IT Schedule 70 through several different SINs, the cloud computing services market is sufficiently mature to offer differentiated and vetted cloud computing services through a single SIN. This effort would support the OMB "Cloud First" policy by enabling agencies to take full advantage of cloud computing benefits to maximize capacity utilization, improve IT flexibility and responsiveness, and minimize cost. This Request for Information (RFI) is meant to achieve the following two goals: 1. Gain feedback from industry and any other relevant stakeholders on a proposed new Cloud Computing Services SIN. 2. Better understand how industry partners are selling cloud computing services today on IT Schedule 70, to support a decision on creating a Cloud Computing Services SIN. The RFI describes the Government's potential approach for the proposed SIN addition, seeks industry's feedback about the proposed change, and seeks more information about how cloud computing services are currently being sold on IT Schedule 70. The RFI also requests specific recommendations and reasoning to support standard cloud definitions and practices, encourage new contractors, and establish a competitive marketplace. For additional information, please review the attachments. Your response must be provided no later than 4 PM EST August 6, 2014. Response packages should be sent by email to the following inbox: cloud-sin-rfi@gsa.gov. Please utilize the template provided to provide your response. Your entire response must be included in a single document. Additional details about filling out the response are included in the template. Attachments: 1. Request for Information (RFI) 2.
