- The U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) in support of Walter Reed Army Research Institute of Research (WRAIR) intends to negotiate solely (as prescribed in FAR 13.106(b)(1)(i)) with RainDance Technologies, Inc., 749 Middlesex Turnpike, Billerica, MA 01821 for the procurement of a RainDrop Digital PCR System. Specifically, the government will purchase the following items for diagnostic applications for Shigella ssp and other enteric pathogens: One (1) RainDrop Digital PCR System; One (1) RainDrop 96 Sample Consumable Kit 5 pack This system will have the following characteristics: Bench-top form factor Power source 100/240 VAC, 50/60 Hz Ability to process up to 16 lanes per hour with 25 l sample volume Unattended/walk-away operation by users 8-well sample input and output positions Safety door lock sensors for operator safety Integrated imaging hardware and image analysis software for real-time analysis of droplet generation and processing Positive pressure closed loop control system for generating ~5 pl aqueous droplets in oil Automatic control of focusing for image analysis Integrated barcode scanner for recording details of reagents, chips and samples processed on the instrument Automatic internal error detection system supports user warning and minimizes sample and reagent waste Integrated reagent reservoirs with sensor systems to detect and prompt user to replace at appropriate intervals Easy service accessibility FCC compliant Class B device Dedicated PC-based workstation running graphical user interface and Instrument Control software for instrument operation Positive pressure closed loop control system for moving droplets through laser excitation and detection zone Automatic control of focusing laser and detection system for droplet analysis Class 3B compliant laser Industry standard FCS 3.0 data output format for use with flow cytometry software analysis packages The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for this requirement is 334516 and the size standard is 500 employees. This announcement constitutes the only notice by the government; a written solicitation will not be issued. All sources that believe they are eligible to provide these items must respond in writing. Responses must be supported with clear and convincing evidence to clearly articulate the ability to provide the items outlined above. A request for documentation will not be considered an affirmative response. This Special Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive quotes. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether a competitive procurement is in the best interest of the Government. If no written responses are received by the date listed below, which reflects fifteen (15) days after the publication of this notice, the purchase will be awarded without further remark.
