Description
The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD), has identified a need for technical services to assist NSWCCD engineers in assessing the capabilities of current and near-future actuator and sensor technologies for use in measuring mechanical impedances onboard ships. Code 722 is the Structural Acoustic and Target Strength Research Branch in the Signature Control Technology Division of the Signatures Department and is involved in directing research and development work toward new or improved submarine components. Actuators and sensors are needed for measuring mechanical impedances of submarine components. NSWCCD intends to conduct a non-competitive procurement with Summit Applied Research (SAR), Summit, NJ 07901. SAR is currently the only vendor with experience in the design, development, installation, and operation of distributed sensors and high-power, high-force, low latency actuators in a harsh undersea operational environment. Summit High-power actuators as envisioned for the project require high current switch-capacitor technology of the kind developed by SAR for specialized Navy application. SAR is also the only vendor, past or present, with the knowledge of the particular naval architecture needed to perform this work. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation which shall be considered by the agency. All submissions received within fifteen days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. Please reference RFQ N00167-14-T-0023 with all correspondence.
