- Solicitation for International Business & Investment Conference in Africa The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the U.S. Government's development finance institution, requires a contractor with proven international experience to provide all conference planning, Agenda/speaker development, recruitment, promotion, logistics and business advisory services for one international business and investment conference focused on the power sector in Africa to be held in Kenya. An investment conference is defined by OPIC as a conference in which participants are interested in investing (i.e. investing capital in projects or businesses in Africa) in sustainable economic development rather than exporting, (although US capital investments do become magnets for US exports over time.) It is anticipated that the conference will take place in June 2014 and will probably occur between a Monday and a Wednesday or a Tuesday and a Thursday, depending upon availability. This is one of the aspects of the conference that the contractor will assist in determining. Alternate timing should June dates fail to materialize, may be September/October 2014.
