General Information Document Type: Request for Information/Market Research Solicitation information: TBD Sources Sought: 100% Small Business set-aside under NAICS code 334220 size standard of 750 employees Closing Date for RFI: 3 January 2014 Description Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is currently seeking information on procuring accessories for the N7100 Samsung Galaxy Note 2. This RFI is being issued to collect information from industry regarding their capability to provide ALL Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 devices. Components for the N7100 Samsung Galaxy Note 2 include: Protective cases, Qty of 345 each; Chargeable Battery Packs, Qty of 345 each; Transport Cases, Qty of 115 each; and, Universal plug adapters, Qty of 345 each. Below are the salient characteristics for the components necessary to support this requirement. Protective cases shall fit the N7100 Samsung Galaxy Note 2 smartphone and shall meet each of the identified specifications: Screen Protection The protective case shall protect the mobile device screen from inadvertent scratching from being dropped, stored or transported. Sand and Dust The protective case shall protect key interfaces, such as the power and headphone jack, from the accumulation of sand and dust. Shock Resistance The mobile device with the protective case installed shall be capable of withstanding a transit drop of 5 feet in accordance with Method 516.6 of MIL-STD-810. Transport Cases shall be used to transport the components (cell phone with protective cases, external battery charging units, and universal plug adapters) and shall meet each of the identified characteristics: Size The storage case shall be no larger than 24 inches wide by 18 inches deep by 12 inches tall. Visual Cues The storage method used for each item shall provide the user a visual cue when an item is not in its designated storage location. Component Restraints Foam, straps, brackets, or other restraints shall be provided to assure that all stowed items remain securely in place and are protected from damage during transportation. Water Resistance The case shall be capable of being immersed in 5 feet of water in accordance with Method 512.5 of MIL-STD-810. Shock Resistance The case shall protect the contents of the case and be capable of withstanding a transit drop of 10 feet in accordance with Method 516.6 of MIL-STD-810. Case Restraints The case shall have a latch or other restraint mechanism for holding the case closed during transportation. Case Locks The case shall incorporate an interface to lock the case using a standard pad lock. Case Color The color of the case shall be Black 37030 in accordance with FED-STD 595. External Battery Charging Units shall be used when handheld devices are not within range of electrical outlets and shall meet each of the identified characteristics: Power Capacity The mobile device external battery shall provide at least 5000 mAh of power to recharge the mobile device. Mobile Device Charging Time The mobile device external battery shall be capable of charging the mobile device from 10% battery life to 100% battery life within 15 minutes. Rechargeable The mobile device external battery shall be rechargeable using a standard USB connection. Interface The mobile device external battery shall interface with the mobile device using the mobile device's USB connection. Universal Plug Adapters shall meet each of the identified characteristics: Configuration The universal plug adapter shall be a single unit capable of adapting to multiple outlets. USB Output The universal plug adapter shall have a USB charging port. Voltage Conversion The universal plug adapter shall have a voltage step down converter. Surge Protection The universal plug adapter shall have built-in surge protection. LED Indication The universal plug adapter shall have a LED indicator light. Outlet Configuration The universal plug adapter shall have the following outlet configuration types: NW1C, NW2C, NW3C, NW10C, and NW135C, and able to cover the following geographical areas: N. America, S. America, Japan, Caribbean, N. Europe, GB, Ireland, Africa, Singapore, S. Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, China THIS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATIONS. NO STATEMENT OF WORK, SPECIFICATION OR REQUIREMENTS PACKAGE IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR RELEASE. This RFI is a market research tool being used to determine the availability and adequacy of potential commercial sources prior to determining the method of acquisition and issuance of a Request for Quotations. The Government is not obligated to reimburse, and will not pay, for any information received from potential sources as a result of this RFI. This RFI is for informational and planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation for bids or proposals, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The information provided herein is subject to change and in no way binds the Government to solicit for or award a competitive contract. Interested parties are requested to provide an information package consisting of: (1) Company Profile, including: points-of-contact, product and service offerings, number of employees, North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code, Contractor and Government Entity (CAGE) Code, Business Size and type of small business, if applicable. Identify if you are currently a GSA Schedule Holder and, if so, provide GSA contract number. (2) Description of each of the proposed components. Commercial Literature is allowable.
