- The Adaptive Optics Center of Excellence (AOCoE) for National Security is an established research center located at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS). Sponsored by the Office of Naval Research (ONR), the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), and the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), the center conducts research in adaptive optics related to national security issues. AOCoE is currently developing a High Energy Laser (HEL) Beam Control Research Testbed (HBCRT) with Boeing Directed Energy Systems. The HBCRT is an integrated hardware/software prototype research testbed for HEL weapon systems. The testbed beam control system will be initially demonstrated with low power laser operations. The scope is to procure a laser device that can be used as a Beacon Illuminating Laser (BILL) for the HBCRT. This laser will be used for advanced beam control functions of the HBCRT. The BILL will provide a laser beacon for adaptive optics of the system of the HBCRT. ATTACHED IS THE J&A FOR SOLE SOURCE TO NUFERN INC.
