- Description
- As indicated in the Project Background, the Lower Mon project requires funding at 50% from the General Treasury and 50% from the Inland Waterways Trust Fund (IWTF). Currently, the IWTF only generates enough funding to support one major project in a fiscal year. Currently, the Nation's number one priority Inland Navigation Project is the Olmsted Locks and Dam. Olmsted Project was expected to reach its authorized spending limit in FY 2014, which would have stopped construction until reauthorized by Congress. However, recent legislation has reauthorized the Olmsted Locks and Dam construction at a higher spending limit, therefore, the potential for issuing a solicitation for the Charleroi River Chamber Completion is indefinitely postponed until such time that funding becomes available.
