- The purpose of this Special Notice is to provide notice of a proposed contract extension action in accordance with FAR subpart 5.2. The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), on behalf of the Program Executive Office - Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (PEO-C4I), Tactical Networks Program Office (PMW 160), intends to extend contract N00039-10-D-0028 with Northrop Grumman Corporation of Herndon, VA to 31 March 2014 under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, for the following services: (1) on-call, on-site, CANES installation and integration support aboard Navy ships and at Government test facilities and (2) engineering support, on an as-needed basis, to update the CANES DDG baseline. This extension is a bridge between contract N00039-10-D-0028 and the CANES production Multiple Award Contract (MAC) under SPAWAR RFP N00039-13-R-0013 which was released on 30 May 2013. The primary goals of the CANES program are to: 1) Provide a secure afloat network required for Naval and Joint Operations; 2) Consolidate and reduce the number of afloat networks through the use of a Common Computing Environment (CCE) and mature cross domain technologies; 3) Reduce the infrastructure footprint and associated logistics, sustainment and training costs; and 4) Increase reliability, security, interoperability and application hosting to meet current and projected Warfighter requirements. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals or a solicitation of offers.
