- NASA/KSC has a requirement for One (1) MiSeq Next Generation Sequencer System and accessories. NASA/KSC intends to purchase the items from Illumina Inc. MiSeq Sequencer provides a significantly faster and more comprehensive analysis when compared to traditional sequencing method. The performance (accuracy and throughput) of a bench top sized next generation sequencer is the primary consideration for a new genetic analyzer in the ASL. The minimal specifications for a next generation sequencing platform include a high throughput performance exceeding 7.5 Gbp sequences and a read length of 2x250 bases; a quality rating of Q30 (phred reading) or higher; and an error rate <1%, all of which Illumina meets. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on August 30, 2013. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
