- The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the National Weather Service (NWS) intend to award a purchase order for four (4) each of Bearing, Radial Contact, Elevation to Kaydon/Avon Corporation, Drawing No. 14636-500011-101l Rev K, P/N 122R2, in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation FAR Part 13. The part number is solely manufactured by Kaydon/Avon Corporation, specifically for use in the antenna pedestal installed in the NEXRAD System. The unique characteristics and physical form of this assembly makes it the only acceptable part for this application. The Government does not own or have sufficient data rights to fully specify the design to another manufacturer. There is no other commercially available assembly that will support the requirement defined in the End Specification. This design is part of the pedestal design that Radiation Systems Inc. (RSI) owns. The design rights are the property of RSI. This item is being purchased for the National Weather Service (NWS) NEXRAD spare parts program, to be delivered to the National Logistics Support Center located in Kansas City, MO. The proposed contract action was issued as a sources sought notice that was posted on FedBizOpps under Solicitation No. NWWG01401302238 on August 1, 2013, that resulted in only one response to the notice. An award will be issued to Kaydon/Avon Corporation.
