- The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the National Weather Service (NWS) intend to award a purchase order for nine (9) each of Meter, Radiation Hazard Bearing, to L-3 Communications-Narda Microwave East Model No. EMR-20, P/N 2244/2- w/Type 8 100KHZ-3GHZ Probe, in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation FAR Part 13. The item supports the National Weather Service NEXRAD spare parts program. L-3 Communications part has been determined that it is technically superior because the low end of the dynamic range on the meter affords the opportunity to detect non-ionizing radiation leaks at an earlier time when they are small. The product detects leaks with more precision and in smaller amounts than other competitive products. The Government believes it is in the best interest to acquire the meters from L3-Communications in order to support the Dual Polarization System. This item will be delivered to the National Logistics Support Center located in Kansas City, MO. The proposed contract action was issued as a sources sought notice that was posted on FedBizOpps under Solicitation No. NWWG01401302985 on August 1, 2013, that resulted in only one response to the notice. An award will be issued to L-3 Communications-Narda Microwave-East.
