- 1. Introduction: This is an announcement for a Basic Research Small Business Interchange hosted by the Basic Research Innovation and Collaboration Center (BRICC), a partnership between the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) and the Virginia Tech Applied Research Corporation (VT-ARC). 2. Background: This interchange will provide technology-based small businesses insight into Air Force basic research and government small business processes. This interchange is scheduled Tuesday, 20 August, 2013 at the Basic Research Innovation and Collaboration Center (BRICC). The BRICC was created by a Partnership Intermediary Agreement between the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) and the Virginia Tech Applied Research Corporation (VT-ARC). The BRICC's goals include the improvement of collaborations between the Air Force basic research program and small businesses to promote technology transition and technology transfer. 3. Objectives: -Make technology-based small businesses aware of opportunities to work with AFOSR -Make technology-based small businesses aware of technology transition and technology transfer opportunities -Educate technology-based small businesses on processes for working with AFOSR 4. Special Note: This announcement is not a contract, a request for proposal, a promise to contract, or a commitment of any kind on the part of the Government. The information provided herein is subject to change and in no way binds the Government to solicit for or award a contract. The Government will not pay for any effort expended or any material provided in response to this announcement, nor will the Government return any data provided. If a future solicitation is released, it will be synopsized on the FBO website located at https://www.fbo.gov. It is the potential offertory's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of any follow-on information. 5. Registration: Pre-registration is REQUIRED ( https://www.research.net/s/SmallBusinessInterchange ). This is a no-fee event and is limited to two (2) individuals for each small business as there is limited space available. Small businesses should be focused on technology development and commercialization.
