Description
STATEMENT OF WORK for Volcano IVUS Upgrade West Roxbury-Upgrade to Volcano s5i System And installation of 2 systems in each of 2 Cardiac Cath Labs Description: Individual items as stated above: Intended use: The Volcano IVUS s5i system upgrade is to bring the existing Volcano stations in each of the two cardiac catheterization laboratories at West Roxbury up to date and provide interfaces to accept more advanced intravascular technologies used in cardiac catheterization, and to improve the efficiency and safety of these intracoronary studies. Expectations: This system is a combined intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and fractional flow reserve (FFR) platform, and has the capabilities of accepting new upcoming technologies projected to become available in the next couple of years (e.g. optical coherence tomography). This system upgrade will provide faster setup and quicker connections than the current equipment to prevent delays in obtaining IVUS and FFR images that can potentially expose patients to increased risks from catheterization (e.g. arterial thrombus). The upgrade will also include new software to enhance the images and widen options for IVUS (including chromoflo). The equipment upgrade will provide images of the coronary and other arteries by interfacing with the Volcano IVUS catheters which are introduced into the artery during catheterization. The equipment will also provide FFR measurements of the functional significance of coronary and other lesions by interfacing with the Volcano FFR pressure wire. IVUS and FFR are used to assess the severity of an arterial stenosis and the need for intervention for example with angioplasty or stenting. The platform is expected to interface with the existing Xcelera imaging system and our technologists will store IVUS images on the Xcelera system in manner similar to the angiograms obtained at catheterization. The Volcano work stations are independent units, which are not connected to the clinical CPRS/Vista computer network.
