Description
This Announcement is modified to include similar construction project for beach renourishment at Woodmont Beach, Milford, Connecticut. This Sources Sought Announcemnet will be used to determine interest, availability and capability of 8(a), HUBZone, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned and Small Business concerns for both projects. Work at Woodmont Beach is expected to begin in October 2013 and will extend over a 4 month period. The estimated construction cost is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Woodmont Beach is located along the northern shore of Long Island Sound, about 5 miles southwest of New Haven Connecticut, in the borough of Woodmont, City of Milford, Connecticut. The original authorized project for Woodmont Beach was completed in 1959. A portion of the original project was modified in January 1994, under the authority contained in Section 103 of the 1962 River and Harbor Act, as amended. The sandfill portion of the project involved the direct placement of sand fill along 1,500 feet of beach between Clinton and Bonsilene Streets to form a 50 foot wide berm at elevation +11.0 feet MLW. The renourishment project involves the placement of sand fill at Woodmont Beach in order to restore the project to full profile dimensions. The sand shall be purchased from a local supplier, trucked to the site and spread on the beach using earth moving equipment. The deposited sand would be placed in piles above mean high water and then grade it to the elevations shown on the plans. A beach berm having an approximate width of 50 feet, with roughly a 1 on 10 seaward slope, terminating at 0.0 feet MLW will be formed. Interested firms should submit a capabilities package to include the following: business classification (i.e. HUBZone, etc.) as well as qualifications and experience in performing the work requirements stated above. Please include a specific example of the firm's relevant experience. Proof of bonding capability is required. Subcontractors may be used to demonstrate this past experience. These modifications, which were completed in 1995, involved the direct placement of sand fill along 4,500 feet of shorefront between Ivy and Linwood Streets to form a beach berm about 50 feet wide at elevation 12.0 feet MLW. The renourishment project involves the placement of sand fill at Prospect Beach in order to restore the project to full profile dimensions. The sand shall be purchased from a local supplier, trucked to the site and spread on the beach using earth moving equipment. The deposited sand would be placed in piles above mean high water and graded to the elevations shown on the plans. A level beach berm having an average width of 50 feet at an elevation of 12.0 feet MLW and a relatively flat 1 on 15 seaward slope terminating at 0.0 feet MLW, will be formed. Interested firms should submit a capabilities package to include the following: business classification (i.e. HUBZone, etc.) as well as qualifications and experience in performing the work requirements stated above. Please include a specific example of the firm's relevant experience. Proof of bonding capability is required. Subcontractors may be used to demonstrate this past experience. Responses are limited to twenty pages. Responses are due JULY 12, 2013. Responses should be addressed to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, 696 Virginia Road, Concord, MA 01742-2751, ATTN: R. Muhammad (Contracts Branch). Interested firms shall provide the above documentation in one original form and one copy. The Government will not pay for any material provided in response to this market survey nor return the data provided. This is not a request to be placed on a solicitation mailing list nor is it a Request for Proposal (RFP) or an announcement of a solicitation. The results of this survey will be considered to be in effect for a period of one year from the date of this notice.
