- Solicitation No. F13PS00645 Region 3, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service intends to sole source a requirement for underwater telemetry receivers and transmitters to track progression of the Upper Mississippi River Asian Carp. The Contractor Is VEMCO, Nova Scotia, Canada. This requirement is in collaboration among various agencies to include the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, U.S. Geological Survey, and the Missouri Department of Conservation. The ultrasonic transmitters will be implanted into Asian Carp and tracked using fixed receivers and mobile tracking devices. Compatibility is a major concern when attempting to share cooperatively gathered information on movement and facilitate sharing of data amongst the agencies. Transmitters and receivers, rated at 69 KHz, are currently used. To maintain complete compatibility among agencies, the continuation of 69 KHz for transmitters and receivers are required. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) code is 335999, with a business size standard of 500. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement, based on responses, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
