Description

Under Statutory Authority § 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) the VA Great Lakes Acquisition Center (GLAC) intends to negotiate a sole source IDIQ contract with Thoratec Corporation for the rental of Ventricular Assistance Devices (VAD) and supporting equipment for use at the William S. Middleton VA Hospital in Madison, WI. The Madison VA requires equipment and expendables that are compatible with the Thoratec VAD system which is the only system currently used by the MadisonVA's contracted heart transplant surgery provider. This procurement is being conducted in accordance with FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This will be a firm fixed price contract for one base year and two option years to be exercised at the Government's discretion. The NAICS Code is 334510. This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive proposals. No solicitation documents are available and telephone requests will not be honored. However, if a firm believes it can meet the requirements it must furnish information about its products and services, as well as references from other customers who are using these products and service to the Contracting Officer by 8:00AM (CST) June 12, 2013. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements. Responses received will be evaluated however; a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the GLAC will proceed with the sole source negotiation with Thoratec Corporation.
