- Description
- Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to issue a modification to contract number N00019-08-D-0014, to extend services for 6 months pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) clause 52.217-8 "Option to Extend Services" of the contract. This will be a sole source modification to L3 Communications Vertex Aerospace LLC, 555 Industrial DR S, Madison MS, 39110-9072. When the subject contract was awarded to L3 Communications on 28 August 2008, FAR clause 52.217-8 "Option to Extend Services" was included but not specifically evaluated therefore award of this option will be supported by a Justification and Approval. Exercise of this option will allow the Government to continue services until the follow-on contract can be awarded. The period of performance of the extension is estimated to be 01 October 2013 through 31 March 2014. Exercising the option is necessary to fulfill the Government's requirement to provide intermediate and advanced training to Undergraduate Military Flight Officers (UMFOs) in the Navy's flight training program. The need for continuity of operations and the potential cost impact of disrupting operations were considered in making the determination to extend the subject contract. This notice of intent is neither a request for proposal nor a solicitation of offers. This synopsis is provided for information purposes only.
