Description

Project Number 636-13-128, Renovate Mental Health (Omaha VAMC). Contractor shall furnish all supervision, tools, labor, materials, equipment, transportation and testing necessary to refurbish hallway finishes on various wings of the 8th, 10th and 11th floors at the Omaha Division of the Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System located at 4101 Woolworth Avenue, Omaha, NE 68105-1850. Major items of work in the base bid item include, but are not limited to: (1) Removal and replacement of existing wainscot material with Acrovyn wainscot; (2) Preparation and application of new paint to painted surfaces; (3) Installation of new wall tile in corridor niches; (4) Replacement of all existing plastic handrails with new Oak handrails; (5) Demolition of existing flooring and replacement with new carpet; (6) Painting of both sides of hallway door jambs and hallways window frames, wherever new wall treatment is being performed; and (7) Removal of existing drinking fountain and installation of a new ADA two-level Electric Water Cooler and associated power and plumbing. Major items of work in the alternate bid items include, but are not limited to: (1) Replacement of carpet, patching and repainting of walls in approximately 29 offices; (2) Replacement of exposed conduit with cut-in concealed conduit and devices where shown; (3) Removal of light fixtures above hand sinks in offices; (4) Patching, repairing, and painting of all altered surfaces to match adjacent areas; (5) Renovation of two restrooms and one room on 8th Floor west and one room on the 10th Floor; (6) Demolition of certain plumbing fixtures, updating finishes and installation of new fittings and fixtures; (7) Abatement/encapsulation of any loose VAT and asbestos containing mastic disturbed by construction activities, in accordance with the specifications and applicable environmental laws and regulations; (8) Replacement of existing hallway light fixtures' lenses; (9) Removal and abatement of existing VAT & asbestos containing mastic in Elevator Lobby and replacement with VCT & cove base; and (10) Abatement of VCT & Mastic and Installation of new ceramic tile floor in lobby to Roof Deck on 10th Floor. All work shall be performed in accordance with the specifications and drawings, and all applicable VA and local codes. Solicitation Number VA-263-13-B-1359 for this effort will be posted to FedBizOpps (www.fedbizopps.gov) on or about April 26, 2013. This solicitation will contain all necessary specifications, drawings and other information necessary to bid the project. An Organized Site Visit is tentatively scheduled to be held sometime during the week of May 6 through May 10, 2013 (See solicitation when available for specific time/date/place). The Bid Opening is tentatively scheduled to be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013 (see solicitation when available for specific time/date/place). The successful bidder will be required to provide Performance and Payment Bonds within 10 calendar days of award notification. The Period of Performance is expected to be 270 calendar days from the issuance of the Notice-to-Proceed. THIS SOLICITATION IS SET ASIDE FOR SERVICE-DISABLED VETERAN-OWNED SMALL BUSINESSES (SDVOSBs) UNDER PUBLIC LAW 109-461. Disclosure of the magnitude of construction projects: The estimated cost of the total project is between $250,000.00 and $500,000.00.
