Description
DC Servo Amp Specifications THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. The Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is seeking sources capable of providing new DC servo-amplifiers to be used in the NEXRAD WSR-88D Antenna Positioning System that is a form, fit, function, replacement of the legacy servo-amplifier, and is compatible with the existing servo motor and servo choke. Each servo-amplifier is interchangeable between axis (Azimuth and Elevation) and shall be designed to accommodate this function. NOAA is not seeking vendors to design, develop, and then produce this requirement; we are seeking vendors already capable of proving a working solution. NEXRAD (Next-Generation Weather Radar) is a network of 168 high-resolution Doppler weather radars operated by the National Weather Service (NWS), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the U.S. Air Force (USAF). NEXRAD detects weather events and is the primary detection system used by the NWS to support issuance of severe weather warnings, and used by the FAA and USAF to support safety of flight operations. The WSR-88D Radar Operations Center (ROC) is responsible for complete life-cycle support of the radar network including system engineering, configuration management, and logistics analysis and support. The contractor shall be capable of providing up to 430 DC Servo Amplifiers in accordance with the attached specifications (Appendices A and B). It is anticipated that initial delivery will consist of 2 first article units, 28 Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) units, followed by up to 400 production units. The first article and LRIP units will be used to ensure the servo amps are within the required specifications, and to test them within the WSR-88D operating system. The NAICS code for this requirement is 335314 and the small-business size standard is 750 employees. The Government anticipates awarding a fixed-price supply contract for the DC Servo Amps. This request for information does not constitute a commitment, implied or otherwise, that a procurement action will be issued. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of the submission of contractor's information. The Government shall not be liable for or suffer any consequential damages for proprietary information not properly identified. Proprietary information will be safeguarded in accordance with the applicable Government regulations. Please submit information to include: 1) Your firm's DUNS number & CAGE code; 2) Your firm's SBA certified small business concern status. Specifically identify if your firm is HUBZone-certified, Service Disabled Veteran Owned, or SBA 8(a) program certified; 3) A brief description of your firm's ability to provide the DC Servo Amps required for this procurement. Include any recent past performance experience. 4) Identify any major work components that your firm would likely subcontract out. Information must be received by the Contract Specialist, Mr. Chad Hepp, at Chad.m.Hepp@noaa.gov by close-of-business on April 24, 2013. Do not call regarding this sources sought notice. Any questions or responses regarding this notice must be submitted in writing via e-mail to address listed above.
