- See attached. This is a replacement to BDM2830215. This notice is being published in accordance with FAR 5.201 requiring notice of a proposed contract action. THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT AND NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATION. The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Research Triangle Park, NC intends to negotiate a firm-fixed price sole source procurement with Carl Zeiss Microimaging, Inc., Thornwood, NY pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1--Only one responsible source and no other services will satisfy agency requirements. This request is for the preventative maintenance and repair of LSM710, LSM510, and LSM PASCAL confocal microscopes. The period of performance is anticipated to cover One (1) base year with two (2) 1-year option years and an additional six month extension. These instruments were procured by sole-source procurement process from Carl Zeiss Microimaging, Inc. The LSM510 (s/n 851295, 850733, 851366, and 2434000116), LSM PASCAL (s/n 1213000124) and LSM710 (s/n 2501000438) are currently on a service agreement with Carl Zeiss which expires 5/31/2013. All of the instruments have been under continuous service by Carl Zeiss Microimaging, Inc. since the original purchase through manufacturer warranty and annual maintenance agreements. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received within 15 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 15 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, the order will be issued to Carl Zeiss Micorimaging, Inc. The NAICS Code/Size is 811219/$19.0 M. This procurement is to be processed using simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12 Commercial Item Acquisition of Commercial Items.
