- The amendment provides information and guidance to interested parties for a site visit to the Saxton Transportation Operations Laboratory at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center in McLean, Virginia. The FHWA Office of Operations Research and Development has scheduled a tour of the Saxton Transportation Operations Laboratory on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 for investigators interested in responding to topic 1A, High Performance Vehicle Streams, Topic 1B, New Approaches for Testing Connected Highway and Vehicle Systems, or Topic 1C, Innovative Applications for Emerging Real‐Time Data. For a tour on February 20, 2013 investigators are asked to rsvp by Friday, February 15, 2013 4 pm eastern daylight savings time to Robin Hobbs ( robin.hobbs@dot.gov ) and David Kuehn ( david.kuehn@dot.gov ) with the full name, organization, and contact information of each person who would be attending the tour for security. FHWA will provide further instructions about attending the tour for those who rsvp'd by the deadline. The tour will start at 9:00 am and conclude approximately by 11:00 am and will include an overview presentation of the laboratory facilities, a visit to the indoor laboratory to observe instruments for data collection, simulation, and analysis and a visit outdoors to observe the instrumented vehicle and outdoor instrumented intersection and roadway.
