The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWARSYSCEN) Atlantic, Advanced Technology and Assessments Branch (Code 52130) is seeking information on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) handheld underwater metal detectors used by public safety divers to detect objects underwater. The handheld underwater metal detectors must be completely submersible. Once eligible handheld underwater metal detectors have been identified, additional information will be requested at a later date. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Authorized Equipment List (AEL) item number for this equipment is AEL# 03WA-01-UWMD, Detector, Metal, Underwater. The target audience for this information is the public safety diver community and all submittals should be suited to their specific needs. Review of this information is being performed for the DHS System Assessment and Validation for Emergency Responders (SAVER) Program, which aims to conduct objective comparative assessments and validations of commercial equipment and systems and provide those results to the emergency responder community. For more information on the SAVER Program, visit https://www.rkb.us/saver. All information received will be treated as public knowledge and may be used in SAVER Program documentation; therefore, vendors should not submit proprietary information in response to this RFI. SPECIFIC information sought includes: 1. Company information, including name, address, and website; 2. Whether the company is a manufacturer or distributor; 3. A point of contact for follow-up information, and the point of contacts phone number and e-mail address; and 4. Detector name and search technology type. The submitted information will be evaluated for inclusion in SAVER projects. If a SAVER project on this type of equipment is executed, the equipment selection will be based upon a number of factors, including emergency responder surveys and responder focus group inputs. Consequently, follow-up requests for feedback should not be made through the Federal Business Opportunities posting agency. Vendors may be contacted following submission for more detailed product information. Vendor provided information may be reformatted for publication in SAVER Program documents. SUBMITTALS Respondents are REQUIRED to complete the attached form (UWMD_RFI.pdf) following the instructions on the first page of the form. The form and a Microsoft Word document with this same announcement are located on SSC LANT's e-commerce website: https://e-commerce.sscno.nmci.navy.mil. Once on the SSC LANT e-commerce landing page, look for the SSC Atlantic yellow folder on the left, open the folder, then under View By select the Special Notices link and look under the folder with the date of the posting. All documents associated with the FBO posting are available for download at the bottom of the posting. If you are unable to download the documents, please contact the technical point of contact below and the documents will be emailed to you. The TECHNICAL POINT OF CONTACT is Greg Tompkins (ssc_lant_saver_program.fcm@navy.mil). Submission of vendor information constitutes consent to publication of that information in SAVER Program documentation. A NOTE REGARDING THIS RFI: This RFI is for INFORMATION GATHERING AND PLANNING purposes only, and should not be construed as a Request for Proposal (RFP) or solicitation of an offer. The Government DOES NOT intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or otherwise pay for the information solicited.
