- THIS IS A PRESOLICITATION NOTIFICATION. In accordance with FAR 5.203(a) this synopsis provides at least 10 days notification that the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) intends to issue a solicitation to obtain equipment for the Laser Plasma Branch (LPB) of the Plasma Physics Division. The LPB research program in laser physics is directed toward developing new high-power lasers, and new high-power, compact accelerators for various defense programs. The NRL's Laser Plasma Branch has a need for a multi-wavelength MHz laser system. This synopsis is for the acquisition of one wavelength-tuneable, sub-megahertz-repetition-rate laser system. Complete technical specifications will be available as part of the solicitation. A firm-fixed-price contract will be issued. The government intends to use FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. The NRL uses electronic commerce (EC) to issue requests for proposals (RFPs) and amendments to RFPs. Paper copies of the RFP will not be provided. The actual closing date for proposals will be stated in the solicitation when issued. All responsible sources may submit a bid, proposal, or quotation, which shall be considered by the agency.
