- Solicitation Number: VA797P-12-R-0026 Special Notice Synopsis: The National Acquisition Center intends to enter into a sole-source contract with Bausch & Lomb (BL) for the procurement of PreserVision Lutein a branded (patented) product used for macular degeneration. PreserVision Lutein cannot be therapeutically substituted with other ocular nutrition supplements. PreserVision Lutein is the only supplement with the exact combination recommended for smokers with macular degeneration. This action is to contract for the identified drug which is currently sourced from a non-designated Trades Agreement Act (TAA) country. The product is available from only one source, Bausch & Lomb. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals as PreserVision Lutein is protected by patent. It is anticipated a contract will be awarded for one year.
