Description

This announcement is open to all businesses regardless of size. The contract awarded will be firm-fixed price. The North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) for this procurement is 236220. The Smithsonian Institution (SI) intends to contract with a firm to provide all coordination, supervision, labor, material and equipment necessary for the National Zoological Park (NZP) General Services Building Retaining Wall and the NZP General Services Building Lateral Strengthening and Fire Protection, located at 3000 Block of Connecticut Avenue, NW, Washington, DC. This project includes: (1) providing a retaining wall parallel to and north of North Road. The retaining wall will resist existing lateral forces exerted on the General Services Building and provide for future expansion; and (2) the project will provide new structural elements to resist existing lateral forces. The project will also update and correct current life safety and accessibility deficiencies and will organize the existing workshops and supply areas to enhance NZP support operations and to allow for a phased construction project with minimal staff relocations outside of the General Services Building. The Period of Performance is expected to be five hundred thirty (530) calendar days for the retaining wall project and one thousand (1000) calendar days for the lateral strengthening and fire protection project. Both projects shall be sequenced to run concurrently with the retaining wall project starting before the lateral strengthening and fire protection project. The estimated price range is between 20M and 26M. The Request for Proposal (RFP) will consist of two parts. Part 1: Technical Proposal in which the Offerors establish their qualifications in accordance with the following Evaluation Standards: (1) Plan of Accomplishment and Contract Time, (2) Key Personnel and Subcontractors. Part 2: Schedule of Values and Contract Price. A Subcontracting Plan will be required for all large businesses. Contractors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) prior to award. Issuance of RFP, o/a December 5, 2012.
