- The US Army Contracting Command - Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), Research Triangle Park Division will award a five-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity, Cost type contract to the National Academy of Science (NAS). The Board on Army Science and Technology (BAST) Program was established at The National Academies and serves as a convening authority for the discussion of science and technology issues of importance to the Army and formulates independent Army-related studies. It brings to bear broad military, industrial, and academic scientific, engineering, and management expertise on Army technical challenges and other issues of importance to senior Army leaders. The NAS is a private, non-profit society of distinguished scholars engaged in scientific and engineering research. The National Academy of Sciences was chartered by Congress for the express purpose of providing governmental agencies with independent reviews and analyses in science. In accordance with 36 USC 150303, at the request of the US Government, the NAS shall investigate, examine, experiment, and report on any subject of science and art. Based on the following, 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c) (5) as implemented by FAR 6.302-5 an award will be made to NAS.
