Description
This is a notice of intent, not a request for a proposal. A solicitation document will not be issued and proposals will not be requested. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), Station Support/Simplified Acquisitions (SS/SA) Branch, on behalf of the National Institute on Aging (NIA) intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a noncompetitive basis to Applied Biosystems, LLC, North American division, 850 Lincoln Centre Drive, Foster City, CA 94404, for procurement of one (1) Big Dye Sequencing Terminator Kit and POP-7 Polymer for use on existing equipment. The Laboratory of Neurogenetics at NIA, located in the NIH Biomedical Research Center, is currently conducting research in Late-onset Alzheimer's disease Genome screening. Research involves studying genetic variants in Alzheimer's disease through conducting experiments on a DNA Analyzer, the Applied Biosystems 3730 DNA Analyzer. The Analyzer sequences DNA samples in order to identify genetic mutations. Consumable reagents are needed to effectively operate these experiments. The BigDye Terminator v3.1 Cycle Sequencing Kit and POP-7 Polymer provides the necessary reagents and are registered trademarks of Applied Biosystems. No other type of supplies or services can satisfy agency requirements. This acquisition is being conducted using policies unique to the acquisition of commercial items prescribed in FAR Part 12, in conjunction with the policies and procedures for solicitation, evaluation, and award prescribed in Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, and is exempt from the competition requirements of Part 6. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Comments to this announcement, referencing this synopsis number, may be submitted to the NIDA SS/SA Branch, prior to the closing date specified in this announcement, electronically to the attention of Hunter A. Tjugum, at hunter.tjugum@nih.gov.
