- Blewett Pass Drawing Detail View Blewett Pass Drawing Overall View The U.S. Forest Service, Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest servicing Region 6 has a proposed project to expand the existing Blewett Pass Sno-Park (south side of Hwy 97 only) to enlarge the parking capacity of the site for both single vehicles and vehicles with trailers plus unloading zones for snowmobiles. Roadway geometry includes double lane road with separated parking and convenient turn-around radius plus improvement of roadside drainage from rain and snow events. It is anticipated work will include the removal and disposal of the existing asphaltic surfacing, tree clearing and decking, excavation and embankment to construct a wide parking lot area with crushed aggregate and asphalt surfacing, cutslope excavation with bench for vegetative plantings, placement of topsoil and rock buttress wall, installation of fabric wrapped rock underdrains, removal and replacement of existing culvert plus installation of new metal culverts, road ditching, soil rehabilitation of meadow area, rock barrier placement, installation of wood bulletin boards and signs for traffic control. A firm-fixed price negotiated contract is contemplated requiring submission of both a technical and a price proposal in spring of 2013. The estimated construction range of magnitude for this project is between $100,000 and $250,000. The normal operating season for this project is June 15 through October 31. It is anticipated that the project completion date will be September 30, 2013. Presolicitation notice and solicitation will not be issued until spring of 2013; however a site visit will occur this fall in order to allow contractors advanced knowledge of site and ability to view the project area.
