- 14-page PDF of IFB. These specifications set forth the requirements for the printing, finishing, packing, labeling and delivery of plasticoil spiral-bound books. Covers print on PE plastic and text pages print on synthetic, tear-resistant stock. Text pages include mylar laminated tabs and fold-ins. SIZE COVER: 5 x 7-1/4" TEXT: 4-1/2 x 7-1/4"; Tabs: 4-1/2 x 7-1/4" PLUS 1/4" tab lip (as applicable); Fold-ins: 10" x 7-1/4" (as applicable). PAPER STOCK: *Must be in accordance with JCP Paper Specification Standards in effect on date of this order. COVER: Polyethylene plastic, matte, Maroon,.035 gauge (equal to 359 Maroon at www.crawford-industries.com) TEXT (includes fold-ins and tabs): JCP Code* 091, Uncoated (Tear-Resistant) Synthetic Paper, White, 78 lb. (equal to 5.9 point) COVER: Covers 1 and 4 print type, rules and line-art illustrations in opaque white ink on polyethylene (PE) plastic. Covers 2 and 3 are blank. TEXT: All 302 pages must be surface-tinted with full bleeds with a close visual match to Pantone 4685C. Included in this 302 page count are seven (7) blanks (no informational content), eight (8) fold-ins and thirty-seven (37) tabs. Title page will surface tint in PMS 4685C with a knockout area measuring 3-1/4" x 3-3/4". The knockout area will overprint with a four-color process image. Folio 4-11 overprints in black and red. Folios 7-25 and 7-26 overprint in black and blue. Remaining balance of pages overprint in black ink. Copy prints head-to-head and consists of type, rules, screens, gradients, solids, line-art illustrations and one color halftone. Multiple screened graphic elements and gradients (grayscale) scattered throughout. Surface tint must be consistent color throughout publication. Contractor to ensure no ghosting, no mottling, no dot loss and/or dot gain, and all gradients are smooth (no banding). Fold-ins measure 10" x 7-1/4" when expanded. Contractor required to suitably Z-fold from 10" x 7-1/4" to 4-1/2 x 7-1/4" with folds at approximately 4-1/2" and 7-1/4" from bind edge. Blind score all folds. Final page size must be flush with other text pages. All fold-ins print head-to-head in black ink only. See Attachment B for illustrated visual. Tabbed text pages print on tab body and lip. Tabbed pages measure 4-1/2 x 7-1/4" PLUS 1/4" tab for an overall page size of 4-3/4 x 7-1/2". Tabs are 1/7th cut. Contractor is required to set type on tab lip face and back, center position, with a suitable sans-serif, boldface font. NOTE: Text for yellow mylar tabs must be set in all upper case letters and text for clear mylar tabs must be set in upper and lower case letters. Match furnished sample. YELLOW MYLAR: Laminate both sides of nine (9) tabs with transparent yellow mylar, trim flush. CLEAR MYLAR: Laminate both sides of tab balance with clear mylar, trim flush. See Attachment A for tab pagination guide. BINDERY: Punch suitably on the left 7-1/4" dimension and insert maroon (preferred to match cover color) or black plastic coil of suitable capacity. Contractor to ensure plastic coil size is sufficient to facilitate a book with easy page turning, lies flat when opened and has flushed pages when closed (no bulging). Contractor is required to adjust page layout margins as necessary to ensure no loss of information due to binding.
