Description
The Department of the Army, Healthcare Acquisition Activity- North intends to negotiate a Sole Source commercial item procurement with Sirona Dental Systems to provide three CAD/CAM Systems to Maxwell, McGuire, and Scott AFB. The systems will include Chair side: CEREC AC, CEREC Practice Lab Milling Unit, CEREC Club, Activation Key, Digital scanner Blocs starter set and OptiSpray, and 3D training. This proposed procurement is for supplies for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement no later than October 24th 2012 noon local time. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. Point of contact Michele Devine, Contract Specialist, e-mail: michele.g.devine.ctr@us.army.mil The following verbiage is directly from the Justification and Approval for sole source and is posted in accordance with FAR 5.102(a)(6). Cerec CAD/CAM Systems are the only system that mills porcelain, ceramic, leucite ceramic, composites, zirconia, acrylic, polyurethane, metal, zirconia abutments, full contour zirconia, metal and zirconia understructures, wax patterns, models and crown templates. They offer a full scale digital network for restorative procedures. The milling machine will significantly reduce fabrication time. The system allows the dentist to prepare a tooth for a complex restoration, mill the permanent crown, and cement it all in one appointment. The base currently has a CEREC system so the new system will be compatible with existing components. The sole source will avoid duplication of costs that is not expected to be recovered through competition, or the unacceptable delays due to the government. Chair side intraoral scanners create digital impressions of patients teeth and sends them directly to an in-office milling machine thereby reducing fabrication time and increasing productivity.
