- Description
- The U.S. Geological Survey, Columbia Environmental Research Center (CERC), requests award of a non-competitive procurement to Perkin-Elmer Corporation for a one year service agreement on two pieces of existing Perkin-Elmer equipment. The two pieces of equipment are a FIAS 400 flow injection system and an AANALYST 400 atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The flow injection system is used in conjunction with the AANALYST 400 to determine selenium in environmental samples. This equipment is crucial for continuing work in existing projects, such as the monitoring of selenium in irrigation return drains in the Salton Sea, as well as addressing selenium problems in various National Wildlife Refuges. Based on information available at this time, and in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), implemented by FAR 6.302-1, the government considers the item specified as a sole source from PerkinElmer and proposes to negotiate with that entity on that basis. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required services are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement, and such other materials which correspond to the required items stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Affirmative response shall be received by this office by close of business August 23, 2012 by 3:00 PM Mountain Standard Time. This notice may represent the government's only official notice of this procurement.
