Description
Design/Build of a 400-member Army Reserve Center (ARC) which includes a 61,282 square-foot Training Center building, a 5,311 square-foot Organizational Maintenance Shop (OMS) building, and a 2,886 square foot Unheated Storage (UHS) building. Buildings will be of permanent construction with reinforced concrete foundations, concrete floor slabs, structural steel frames, masonry veneer walls, standing seam metal roof, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, mechanical systems, security systems, and electrical systems. Supporting facilities include land clearing, paving, fencing, general site improvements, and extension of utilities to serve the project. Accessibility for the disabled will be provided. Physical security measures will be incorporated into design including maximum standoff distance from roads, parking areas, and vehicle unloading areas. The new ARC will be located on the existing Schenectady, NY site. The 400-member training facility will include administrative, educational, assembly, library, learning center, vault, weapons simulator, and physical fitness areas for thirteen Army Reserve units. The maintenance shop will provide work bays and maintenance administrative support. The project will also provide for unit storage and adequate parking space for military and privately-owned vehicles. Temporary trailers will be required to house existing unit functions during the two-year construction period. After construction of the new facility the old Schenectady ARC (54,334 sf) will be demolished. The following additional energy efficiency and sustainable design elements will be included in the Base Bid or as Bid Options, and include: LED lights, Geothermal-ground-coupled heat pumps building tightness requirement.
