- Description
- This procurement is required for ongoing experiments in accordance with IAW FAR 6.302-1 and is based on the need to contract reagents and kits to be used for in clinical research. The proposed vendor, Miltenyi Biotech, provides the only approved reagents and kits that can currently be used for this testing. These reagents and kits are used for patients as approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and IRB (Institutional Review Board) protocols #08H0186, or 04C0055 and now eleven additional protocols for a total of 14. Per the protocol, the patients/donors receive respective dosages days in advance of receiving apheresis (the process of removing blood or blood components by automation). If the dosage administration doesn't take place as prescribed, this could leave the patient susceptible to GVHD (Graft-versus-host-Disease) which is a potentially fatal disease.
