Description
*************************************************************** SOLE SOURCE SYNOPSIS ONLY *************************************************************** Scope of Work: Provide an annual maintenance service contract, on-going 24/7/365 technical support, and any needed repairs for the Thomson Spirit 2K Datacine System installed at the Library of Congress Packard Campus. Background: The Library faces many challenges with acquiring, managing, storing, preserving and making available audiovisual content. The Packard Campus (PCAVC) Film Preservation Laboratory's datacine operations unit must be a state of the art design in order to respond to increasing emphasis on digital preservation plus providing fulfillment orders per client requests. The PCAVC requires its professional staff to utilize a wide range of expertise, knowledge, and vision regarding the technical equipment, precise preservation techniques, media, and its associated failure mechanisms. These experts are required to utilize state-of-the art cutting edge technologies to apply preservation techniques to fragile, obsolete, and legacy moving image materials. The Thomson Spirit 2K Datacine originally installed and operating in the Madison building has been relocated and integrated into the PCAVC, Culpeper. The previous annual contract providing maintenance, technical support, and repairs was previously handled under the integration contract provided by the installer CEI, Inc. This contract has now expired, but the requirement for an ongoing full maintenance contract still exists. The Library does not have the in-house technical capability to provide this maintenance support without the expertise, and technical resources (spare parts, etc.), that can only be provided by the original equipment manufacturer, now known as Digital Film Technology (DFT). This support is essential to the on-going efficient operation of this highly sophisticated system. Requirements of the Maintenance Contract: The Library wishes to continue with a premium level maintenance and service contract with DFT inc.
