Description
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Protective Service (FPS) has a requirement to extend the current dispatch network monitoring, management, maintenance and documentation support for router and router nodes in the existing FPS, Voice Over Frame Relay radio dispatch network. The unique design of the DHS, FPS Voice Over Frame Relay radio dispatch network requires repair and replacement parts from the original manufacturer, Motorola, Inc. Securing support at this time from Motorola, Inc. ensures that DHS, FPS maintains compatibility within the legacy system in order to achieve the critical monitoring and functionality for which the DHS, FPS Voice Over Frame Relay radio dispatch network was designed. The period of performance for this proposed requirement shall be for nine (9) months, July 28, 2012 through April 27, 2013. The nine (9) month extension will allow DHS, FPS to recognize continued router and router node support on an integrated and implemented system containing Motorola, Inc. unique features through the full life cycle of the DHS, FPS Voice Over Frame Relay radio dispatch network. The extension shall also allow DHS, FPS to align the router and router node support vehicle with the existing radio dispatch network systems operation and maintenance support vehicle currently in place. During the next several months further consideration shall be paid to the recently awarded DHS Strategic Sourcing, Tactical Communications (TacCom) ordering vehicle as a procurement strategy beyond April 2013 for DHS, FPS Voice Over Frame Relay radio dispatch network support. Supporting the aforementioned proposed nine (9) month extension, the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source, Motorola, Inc. under the authority of FAR 6.302. However, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement which shall be considered by DHS, FPS.
