Statement of Work SAN JUAN VAMC NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE REQUIREMENTS 1. Requirements: This job requires the following: a.All data cable will be Cat 6 (Systimax) punched on B configuration on RJ45 blue wall jack, and terminated on an Ipatch panel (if Systimax panel available); Leaving a minimum of 10 feet cable slack above the ceiling if available. b.All data cable will be Tested and Certify and submit testing results to IRM network management staff. c.All wall jacks will be labeled to represent new closet connection layout, wall jacks will be of a different color from existing ones (black/orange) to differentiate converted jacks use color blue. d.It is require contractor to work at night and weekends to minimize downtime users, and also in areas where asbestos might be present. e.Network management staff will be responsible for the QA on the data cabling installations. Contractor should have certified and trained employees in those areas of asbestos. Contractor is requiring meeting with the VAMC Industrial Hygienist to present asbestos and training certification. f.Contractor will assure proper supervision of their entire employee at all times. 2. References: For further reference refer to the following standards. a. All new cable shall be labeled on each end and fully tested. And shall conform to meet the requirements of ICEA Publications S-80-576-1988 (Ref.B1.6) as to size, color and installation. b. A minimum of two Cat6 cable shall be install on each data jack (EIA/TIA 568 Standard "T568B") to inside VCS Canteen offices. c. Cable transmission performance specifications shall be in accordance with EIA/TIA standards. Attenuation shall be measured in accordance with EIA fiber optic test procedures EIA/TIA-455-46,-61, or -53. Information transmission capacity shall be measured in accordance with EIA/TIA-455-51 or -30. d.SYSTIMAX Solutions SYSTIMAX Structured Connectivity Solutions, Performance Specifications, (and Addendum) Latest Issue. e. SYSTIMAX Solutions, Components Guide, Latest Issue. f. SYSTIMAX Solutions Design & Installation Guidelines, Latest Issue. 3. Contractor 1.Any sub-Contractor, who will assist the main contractor in performance of this work, shall have the same training and certification as the SCS contractor. 2.All communications cabling used throughout this project shall comply with the requirements as outlined in the National Electric Code (NEC) Articles 725, 760, 770, and 800 and the appropriate local codes. 3.All balanced twisted pair cabling shall bear CMP (Plenum Rated), CM/CMR (Riser Rated) and/or appropriate markings for the environment in which they are installed. 4. Cable Pathway 1. In suspended ceiling and raised floor areas where duct, cable trays or conduit are not available, the Contractor shall bundle, in bundles of 50 or less, horizontal cabling with cable ties snug, but not deforming the cable geometry. 2.Cable bundles shall be supported via "J" hooks attached to the existing building structure and framework at a maximum of five (5) foot intervals. 3.Plenum rated cable ties shall be used in all appropriate areas. 4.The contractor shall adhere to the manufacturers ™ requirements for bending radius and pulling tension of all data and voice cables. 5.Cables shall not be attached to lift out ceiling grid supports or laid directly on the ceiling grid. 6.Cables shall not be attached to or supported by fire sprinkler heads or delivery systems or any environmental sensor located in the ceiling air space. 5. Fire Stopping 1.Sealing of openings between floors, through rated fire and smoke walls, existing or created by the contractor for cable pass through shall be the responsibility of the contractor. 2.Sealing material and application of this material shall be accomplished in such a manner, which is acceptable to the local fire and building authorities having jurisdiction over this work. 3.Any openings created by or for the contractor and left unused shall also be sealed as part of this work. 6. Progress and Compliance: VAMC IRM staff will be on site actively participating and monitoring the job progress. Before work area is completed the IRM staff will inspect the areas to determine its completion. IRM will assign a project manager that will monitor overall project compliance and timeframes. This person, in conjunction with the Contractor ™s project manager will determine work area and timeframes for each step of the process. 7. IDENTIFICATION OF WORKERS: a. All workers must have visible on their uniform the individual's name and the company's name so they are easily recognizable at all times. Uniforms are to be cleaned and maintained in good repair, and will be worn as designated by the manufacturer. In cases where the contractor has two or more persons reporting to work under the contract, one of these will be designated as supervisor. The supervisor will assume all responsibility for the work and conduct of all workers. b. In addition contractor must submit a list of selected employees assigned to the VA facility where the service is to be performed in this proposal. These employees will be required to provide their finger print, personal information, and two (2) pictures ID ™s for background check by VA Police once contractor is selected and notified. All issued ID ™s by VA facility are to be returned by each individual or supervisor at the end of the contract to the CO or COTR.
