Industry Day Specifications Industry Day Plans Industry Day Call in Information Industry Day Agenda Industry Day Power Point Presentation The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Norfolk District, in conjunction with North Atlantic Division and Headquarters, would like to invite dredging industry contractors to participate in an Industry Day for the Beach Erosion Control and Hurricane Protection Project at Virginia Beach, Virginia, a large scale beach placement dredging contract to provide for the first periodic re-nourishment of the beach. The event will be conducted by Webinar and Teleconference on May 03, 2012 from 1:30pm to 4:00pm Eastern Standard Time. This event is not a marketing opportunity. The purpose and focus of the event will be to seek dredging industry input and their comments regarding best practices for the technical execution of the Beach Erosion Control and Hurricane Protection Project at Virginia Beach, Virginia, a large scale beach placement dredging contract to provide for the first periodic re-nourishment of the beach. This will include a presentation by the Norfolk District Projects Branch giving current information regarding environmental permit requirements, safety, dredging, beach placement, borrow area concerns, and security and work zone restriction related concerns near the Ocean Front. Synopsis of Work: Re-nourishment of the beach berm along the Virginia Beach oceanfront from 15th to 70th Street to provide for a berm with a minimum elevation of 8.5 feet, NAVD, and a minimum crest width of 100 feet. Re-nourishment material is readily available in the offshore areas adjacent to the project area. These areas include the Thimble Shoal Channel and the Atlantic Ocean Channel. The contract base volume will be 850,000 CY with three (3) additives totaling 400,000 CY. The period of performance for this contract will be 120 days with dredging activities to start on 01 December 2012. This announcement will fall under NAICS code 237990. E-mail requests beyond the due date will not be accepted. Telephone requests will not be accepted. Registration must include name, company, day-time telephone number, e-mail address and your relation to the dredging industry as reason for attendance. Registrants are encouraged to include suggested topics for discussion when registering. This announcement is not a contract solicitation, request for proposal of any sort, a promise to issue any future contract, a forum to discuss upcoming work, or a commitment to offer work of any kind on the part of the Government.
